We originally came to North Florida just to visit some friends who had moved here. We noticed how friendly everyone was and how much we liked the climate. We loved it so much that we decided to move here from Brooklyn. After moving here, we noticed a lack of Brooklyn style pizzerias in our neighborhood. That was the one thing we truly missed after moving here. That was when we saw an opportunity to open our own pizzeria and fill that void. One of our family members had been in the pizza business for 7 years before taking a job on Wall Street. It was suddenly time to get back in the business of creating the best pizza in town.
We invite all our neighbors and everyone else to stop in so we can give you a little taste of true Brooklyn style pizza.
What exactly is a little taste of Brooklyn? New Yorkers in general take a lot of pride in New York style pizza. They know what they want when they say, “Let’s go for a slice!” The best pizzeria’s in New York are all family run and that’s what makes the difference. We take the time to make sure that every pizza is created just the way it should be.
Pizza itself has a long history, however, one of the first documented pizzerias in America was in Manhattan in 1905. So, when New Yorkers talk about “pies” they know what they are talking about. The modern pizza is made with a large hand-tossed thin crust, that’s why our pies are 18” in size. When someone wants a “slice to go” at Serafina’s you are going to get a big wide slice. In fact, when eating a Brooklyn style pizza, you are expected to fold it in half to eat it. The crust is thick and crisp only along its edge, yet soft, thin, and pliable in the middle.
